Valentine's Quilt - UFO update

Work continues on the Valentine's Quilt.

I'm stitching feathers for the first time.  The heart blocks are completed.  Here's a close-up, not the best block but that will keep me humble :)

Below is an idea for feathering the white border, but I'm still debating how to quilt the sashing.  Any ideas?

This project is stretching and sharpening my skills and making me think but that's not a bad thing.

Happy Stitching!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday, Heather and I took Ellie on her first shopping adventure....
she had to pinch her cheek to make sure it was true.....lol
and then.....

she fell asleep :)

We all had a wonderful time shopping!

This morning we had the most lovely snow scenes!
My kind of snow - beauty without the mess on the roads :)

Have a wonderful week!

Valentine's Quilt, with block tutorial

Heart block is a modified 4 patch.
For each block cut:
1 white 3.5" square
1 red 3.5" square
2 white 1.5" x 3.5" rectangles
2 red 2.5" x 3.5" rectables

Assemble as shown below.

Finished block is 6.5" square

Completed 49" x 62" Valentine's quilt top.
Blocks are set on point with 3.5" sashing.
The border is scrappy piano key style.

Now to quilt it.
I'm planning to FMQ feathers in the white border,
not sure about the other areas.
Any ideas?
