Black and White is HOT, well at least popular lately

A web-friend ordered a new purse for her birthday. Her son helped select the fabric and design the bag. He did a SUPER job!

After posting a photo of this bag on Facebook, my niece decided she wanted an updated diaper bag from the same fabrics. Here's what I came up with.....she LOVES it!

I've called this a "diaper tote", it's features an outside, cell phone pocket with a magnetic snap/flap closure.......

and 2 full size compartments with magnetic snap closures and a zippered center compartment. There is also a small zip pocket and 2 slip pockets inside the center compartment.

This bag would also work well as an updated briefcase or laptop carry-all. The outside compartments challenged me, but I really like how it turned out.

Updated Diaper Bag

A friend requested a new diaper bag, to match her stroller and not too girly.....here's what I came up with

she loves it and so does her hubby!

the inside has 2 large pockets for diapers and wipes.

This bag was made in the same design as many of the purses I make. I think it's the first diaper bag I made with a zipper.

The reception.......

This rocking chair welcomed and directed guests, it now sits on my front porch....

A short video was played to announce the arrival of the couple....

The Bride & Groom arrived at the reception by skipping across a bridge....

The peanut butter icing on the chocolate wedding cake was melting and sliding off the cake, so they cut the cake before the meal....

Andrea sang to the couple as a surprise wedding gift....

Their 1st dance....

The program was on the back of fans which Heather designed and made....

New Summer Purse for ME

This is not a new style purse but I included raw edge applique and free-style/swirly quilting.

The 2 sides are totally different.....

and the bottom is striped......

(close-up of applique)

I LOVE this bag....the size and shape are perfect for me.

I'm glad I took some time out of wedding preparations to make this bag....it seemed to take a long time to make it. First, I just couldn't make up my mind on some of the design elements and I didn't designate long periods of sewing just for this special treat for myself....but I'm so happy it's finished before the big event!

Graduation + Wedding = BUSY!

Our home has been busy, busy lately. We moved Heather home from college. And a week later returned to attend her graduation.....it was a beautiful day and the ceremony was wonderful.

Now Heather is packing her things and moving what she doesn't need to Andy's where they are putting their home into order, or at least trying too. She is also ironing out details and working on projects for the wedding. We have just over 4 weeks to finish the preparations. And of course she's searching for a teaching position.

This week I finished Andrea's maid of honor dress and altered my dress. Next I'll alter Heather's gown and make her veil.....but you'll have to wait until after the wedding for pictures :-)

All this along with keeping up with Andrea's schedule has been challenging. She's been practicing for chorus, band & jazz band concerts and performances and piano recital along with adding voice lessons and preparations for several summer camps to her list. Oh, and she's still enjoying fun times with friends and at youth group. So, we won't be slowing down any time in the near future!
